Privacy Policy

In short: Asha runs entirely on your phone. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share your personal information.

  • No account or sign-up is required.
  • Your check-ins and conversations stay on your device. We cannot see them.
  • No ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • The app uses the internet only once, to download its AI model. After that, it works offline.

1. Who we are

Asha is developed by ASHA AI, a registered partnership firm based in Hassan, Karnataka, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the Asha mobile app ("the app") handles your information.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. The app is not connected to any server operated by us, and nothing you enter in the app is sent to us.

3. Information that stays on your device

To work, the app saves some information locally on your phone, inside the app's private storage:

  • Your check-ins, including how you rate feelings such as stress, anxiety, burnout and loneliness.
  • Your conversations with the in-app AI assistant.
  • Your app settings and preferences.

This information never leaves your device through the app. We have no access to it. The AI model that responds to you runs on your phone, not on a server.

Device backups: depending on your phone's settings, Android's own backup feature may include app data in your Google account backup. That backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's privacy policy.

4. Downloading the AI model

The first time you use Asha, the app downloads its AI model file from Hugging Face, a third-party platform that hosts AI models. This is the only time the app connects to the internet. As with any download, Hugging Face receives standard technical information needed to deliver the file, such as your device's IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy. The download does not include any of your check-ins, conversations or other content. We do not receive any information from this download.

5. Permissions

Asha asks only for the permissions it needs to work:

  • Internet: used solely to download the AI model.
  • Notifications: used to show reminders, such as a prompt to do your check-in. Reminders are scheduled on your device and no data is sent anywhere. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.

The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or files.

6. Sharing with third parties

Because we do not collect your information, we have nothing to share, sell or rent to anyone. Asha contains no advertising or analytics services. The only third party the app connects to is Hugging Face, for the one-time model download described above.

Asha is distributed through Google Play. When you install or update the app, Google processes information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive personal information from Google about you.

7. Deleting your data

You are in full control. To delete everything Asha has stored, clear the app's data in your phone's settings or uninstall the app. Once deleted, it cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy.

8. Security

Your data is stored in the app's private storage, which Android protects from other apps. We recommend keeping a screen lock on your phone so that others cannot open the app and see your entries.

9. Age requirement

Asha is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not designed for children.

10. Not a medical or emergency service

Asha is a self-care and wellbeing tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis, treatment or therapy. It is not an emergency or crisis service.

11. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have rights over your personal data. Because Asha does not send your personal data to us, all of it remains under your direct control on your device, where you can view or delete it at any time. If you have any question or concern about your privacy, contact us using the details below.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If we ever introduce a feature that collects personal data, such as cloud backup, we will update this policy before that feature is released and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
